Advanced Project WILD Natural History Workshop: Snakes, Turtles, Lizards, FrogsShort Description: Professional development training in a stunning setting on the Wind River Ranch along the Mora River near Las Vegas, NM. Find renewed energy and ideas on using reptiles and amphibians and citizen science field techniques to meet NM Academic Content Standards and Benchmarks.
Besides frog prowling, turtle trapping, rock-flipping and lizard noosing we will also take part in and learn about:
o Keeping herps in the classroom
o Small-mammal trapping
o Bird mist-netting and banding
o Bug-lighting at night
o Classroom activities using Project WILD and science notebooks
o Integrate science, match and language arts. Receive classroom resources and fabulous prizes.
When: July 23-25, 2010, Friday 6:00 pm to Sunday, 12:00 pm
Where: Wind River Ranch, Mora River
Group Size: Limited to 30! Workshop is open to educators first and other interested adults as space is available.
Accommodations: Bunkhouse, comfy camping with use of bunkhouse; small camper trailers and pop-ups are ok.
