Mission Statement:
We produce and manage projects that bring high quality environmental education directly to teachers and students. We incorporate hands-on activities that require critical reflection. Students learn because they are engaged. Teachers learn how they can use environmental education topics and techniques to teach the state curriculum standards.
Other Description, Special Projects:
Children’s Water Festivals: Water comes to life for fourth grade students and teachers who participate in one of these fantastic field trips. From simple hydrology to complex water rights decision making, students learn what they can do to protect their local water. We produce events in Albuquerque/Bernalillo County and Rio Rancho. For more information about our festivals, call 505-975-0036 or visit www.waterfestnm.com. Water Resource Education: Where does my drinking water come from right now? What about in the future? What can I do to protect our water? How is water a precious and scarce resource? These questions and more are covered by our team of water resource educators who conduct in-class presentations to students in grades K-12 on behalf of the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority. To schedule a classroom visit, call 505-768-3245. For more information about this program, email rhsparks@cabq.gov or visit http://www.abcwua.org/waterconservation/education/.
